The Murdoch Center in Butner NC

Buddy will set up his PA system and provide 20 minutes of sacred music for the weekly Wednesday evening worship service at the Murdoch Center, a State mental care facility.

So that you’ll know what they do, here is a quote from the Center’s website: “To be eligible for admission to Murdoch Center a person must have a diagnosis of profound, severe or moderate mental retardation or a related developmental disability.  All admissions are subject to space available in the appropriate cottage.  No one is denied admission because of inability to pay.  Murdoch also serves young adult males with developmental disability diagnoses and extreme behavior problems from the entire state in a specialized behavioral unit (BART), and provides statewide, specialized residential services to children who have Autism with accompanying severe behavioral challenges (PATH) and adolescents with developmental disabilities, mental health issues and behavioral challenges (STARS).”

First Baptist Church in downtown Raleigh, on Wilmington Street across from the State Capitol Building.

Buddy will set up his PA system and provide 45 minutes of “gathering music” for the annual State Employees’ Martin Luther King Celebration Service.  He’ll also sing in the tenor section with the MLK Choir during the noon service.  The service is open to the public.

(This will be the first public event for Governor Beverly Perdue and her staff since her inauguration this past Saturday.)

In the Log Cabin at First United Methodist Church in Cary, at the intersection of Waldo and Walker Streets.

Buddy will provide music for the weekly Saturday afternoon worship service in the log cabin on Waldo Street at First United Methodist Church in Cary.  The sermon will be given by Certified Lay Speaker Greg Bennett.

The service is very informal, so come as you are.  Jeans and a t-shirt are fine. Dresses and ties are good too!

You're invited to "SNL!" (Sunday Night Live!) at Fairmont United Methodist Church on Clark Ave. in Raleigh. Buddy will be this week’s guest musician, and will perform 3 songs with acoustic guitar. The pastor, Steve Hickle, will play his trumpet, and there are free snacks in the narthex before the service! Buddy will sing tenor with the Chapel Singers choral ensemble in the Ash Wednesday evening worship service.  You’ll have the opportunity to have ashes imposed on your forehead if you choose, as we begin the reflective Lenten season. Please join us.

Tuesday March 3rd at noon

In the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church in Cary, on South  Academy Street near the Library.

Buddy will provide a 40-minute program of acoustic guitar and vocal music, and personal sharing, at a luncheon for First Baptist Church’s Seniors group.

Wednesday March 4th from 6:30pm ‘til 9:30pm The Irregardless Café at 901 West Morgan Street in Raleigh NC Buddy will play acoustic guitar and sing at The Irregardless Café on Morgan Street in Raleigh, NC on the evening of Wednesday, March 4th.

Starting at 6:30 he’ll perform 3 sets, with two 15-minute breaks at about 7:30 and 8:30.  The musical repertoire that evening will be mostly secular songs, and some sacred songs.

Come and have dinner, or come for coffee and dessert (The apple/cherry pie with vanilla ice cream is really good!).  You will enjoy this relaxing venue and the good food & desserts.  Irregardless has been around since 1975, so they’ve learned how to “get it right”!

Buddy will provide a 30-minute program of acoustic guitar and vocal music for the Cary Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa National Teacher’s Sorority.  He’ll share stories and songs from his prison ministry experiences.

Buddy will play euphonium in the orchestra at the three regular morning worship services.  The choirs will have the entire service at each hour to present a beautiful and moving  Lenten work called “Come Touch the Robe” by composer Pepper Choplin. You are invited to this exceptional experience.

Meymandi Concert Hall at the “Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts” in Raleigh NC.

Buddy will play euphonium in the orchestra (which includes 12 members of the NC Symphony and 5 members of the Triangle Brass Band, among many other fine instrumentalists) for a performance of “Come Touch the Robe” by composer Pepper Choplin.  The choir will be 200-strong, made up of choir members from 5 local churches.  Piano accompanist is Ms. Jodi Adams, an amazing musician from First United Methodist Church in Cary, NC.  

Easter Sunday, April 12th at 6:30am,

Buddy will play the guitar and sing “The Angel Rolled the Stone Away” at the beginning of the Easter sunrise service. Then he will play the Euphonium in the brass quartet for the hymns and the Doxology.

Buddy will lead group singing and provide special music for both the 9:00am contemporary worship service and the 11:00am traditional worship service.

St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford, NC, at 2916 Wicker Street  

Buddy will provide 30~45 minutes of praise music, hymns, and original songs for the special Friday night worship service.  This service will be the kick-off for St. Luke UMC’s weekend-long “Take Up Your Mantle” event. For more information, call the St. Luke UMC church office at 919-776-2012.

In the Kiwanis Picnic Shelter at the Town of Cary’s Bond Park.  The entrance to Bond Park is at 801 High House Road, between Cary Parkway and NW Maynard Rd.

Buddy will sing an original song titled “Mighty Mondays Kids” and a couple of other fun songs for the children and parents at the Mighty Mondays end-of-year picnic.

Mighty Mondays is a Christian neighborhood outreach program of First United Methodist Church in downtown Cary, NC.

The wedding reception for Buddy & Charlotte’s good friend Rev. Dr. H. William Green and his wonderful bride Polly will be held in the church fellowship hall from 1:00pm-4:00pm.  Buddy will sing “The Wedding Song” (“There is Love”) shortly after 3:00, followed by some presentations to the bride & groom by others.  Then Buddy will provide background music until the reception ends at 4:00.
Background music will also be provided from 1:00 until 3:00 by 3 wonderful musicians from FUMC: Ms. Jodi Adams from 1:00 ‘til `1:30 on keyboard, Ms. Patti Cook from 1:30 ‘til 2:00 on Keyboard, and Mr. Winslow Stillman from 2:00 ‘til 3:00 on solo guitar. Everyone is invited.

Buddy will sing and play guitar with the Chapel Singers from FUMC Cary during the regular 11:00 Sunday morning worship service. The Chapel Singers will present the message in music and scripture readings during the sermon time. The pastor, Karl Neuschaefer, and his wife, Jeannie, are wonderful Walk to Emmaus Friends of Buddy & Charlotte.

Buddy will play in the euphonium section with the Triangle Brass Band in concert.
Special guest soloist is Mr. Paul Randall, Principal Trumpet with the NC Symphony Orchestra.
 
Two annual awards will be given at this concert for the outstanding band member of the year in the areas of 1) musicianship and 2) service.

Tickets for the concert are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.  Tickets are available at the door.

Fayetteville NC Veteran's Nursing Home – Veterans’ Day Celebration.

Buddy will play the “Taps” on the euphonium at the flag ceremony out front at 11:30am.  Then he’ll perform a Memorial Day concert indoors for the residents, staff, and guests at about 12:30pm.

Fellowship hall of White Plains United Methodist Church at 313 SE Maynard Road in Cary, NC  

Buddy will join Jay Locklear, Praise Leader for St. Luke United Methodist Church (Sanford, NC) in providing leadership for group singing.  They will also provide 2 special songs.  The event is the Heart of Carolina Emmaus Community’s monthly Gathering. There will be lots of music, a “Fourth Day” message, Holy Communion, and, of course, snacks!  Everyone is welcome – you don’t need to have already gone on a Walk to Emmaus to attend!  Come find out more about the Walk to Emmaus, a 3-day spiritual event that will last the rest of your life (really)!

Buddy will lead the praise-style music for a Chrysalis “Hoot.”  Chrysalis is the youth version of the Walk to Emmaus.  A “Hoot” is an energetic gathering of youth who have been on a Chrysalis flight (and youth who have not been but want to know more about Chrysalis).  There will be food, fellowship, games, and lots of music. Adults who want to “see what’s it’s all about” are also welcome.

Buddy will lead music and provide special music in the daily worship services for the 3-day “2009 Convocation on the Rural Church.”  The event is sponsored by Duke Divinity School and The Duke Endowment. The Convocation will provide worship opportunities, plenary sessions and workshops for 100 to 120 leaders of rural churches in North Carolina.

Saturday, Sept. 12th at 6:00pm Moore Square in downtown Raleigh NC.  Moore Square is the entire block bordered by Person, Blount, Hargett, and Martin Streets.  It’s also right across Hargett Street from Marbles Kids’ Museum and the IMAX Theater.

Buddy will play in the Euphonium section with the Triangle Brass Band in concert. The Triangle Brass will play for about 45 minutes before the North Carolina Symphony’s 7:30 concert with the Red Clay Ramblers on the same stage.

Saturday, October 17th, 11:00am-1:15pm Ritter Park in Cary, NC Buddy will set up his PA system in the large picnic shelter and provide over 2 hours of acoustic guitar and vocal music for the Fonville-Morisey/Lochmere Realty Group’s “Fall Festival.”
Sunday October 18th at 7:00pm Meymandi Concert Hall at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh NC. Buddy will play in the Euphonium section with the Triangle Brass Band in an evening concert.
Monday October 19th at 1:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm NC State Fairgrounds - during the 2009 State Fair. Buddy will sing lead (and sometimes alto) with the Methodaires Gospel Quartet at the NC State Fair in Raleigh.  The three 20-to-30-minute performances will be outdoors at the "little white church," which is beside the Village of Yesteryear (Holshouser Building).  The Methodaires are from First United Methodist Church in Cary.

Please come and support Buddy in his second performance (yes, they invited him back!) at The Chatham Street Café.  He will set up his PA system, play his Martin HD-28VR acoustic guitar, and sing rock, folk, and pop “oldies” from the 50’s and 60’s - and some even-more-recent tunes! Come and sing along.
Saturday November 14th, 8:00am In the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, Cary, NC, at 117 South Academy Street Buddy will provide 15 minutes of patriotic songs for the United Methodist Men’s breakfast.  This annual event honors the military veterans of the church. Everyone is invited to this celebration.
Sunday November 15th, 6:30pm In the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, Cary, NC, at 117 South Academy Street Buddy will provide guitar & vocal music for the church’s weekly Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) program.
Sunday December 6th at 7:00pm Meymandi Concert Hall in downtown Raleigh NC Buddy will play in the Euphonium section with the Triangle Brass Band in a Holiday Pops concert.

Buddy will provide a 30-minute Christmas music program for the annual FUMC Cary United Methodist Women’s Unit Christmas Dinner.

Women’s Prison, Raleigh NC

Buddy will provide a 30~40-minute Christmas concert for the Women’s Prison “Disciple” Bible study graduates.  This concert is part of the annual Christmas dinner brought into the prison by the volunteers of the Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries program.  This organization provides teachers and study materials to teach the 34-week “Disciple” Bible study in 72 North Carolina prisons each year.  Lives are being transformed by Christ through this experience of learning, love, acceptance, and hope.

Buddy and his guitar will join mandolin player and singer Bob Briggs in presenting a duet of the popular Christmas song “Mary, Did You Know?” at the 3 traditional morning worship services.

In the Youth Room on the 2nd floor of the Templeton Building on Waldo Street at First United Methodist Church in Cary (the church’s main address is 117 South Academy Street).

Buddy will provide 15~20 minutes of Christmas music for the kids at the weekly Mighty Mondays gathering.  This program provides a blessed time of snacks, games, tutoring, fellowship and love each Monday afternoon.  Most of our wonderful attendees are minority-group kids who attend public schools in the neighborhoods near the church.
